The spreadsheet unit was the final unit covered in the BTT 101 class at Governor Simcoe Secondary School this year. It was focussed on using mainly Microsoft Excel which is a computer program in which figures arranged in the rows and columns of a grid can be manipulated and used in calculations. We were expected to complete formulas, create graphs, and input advanced functions for the software to complete. Though at times this unit can be tricky, it taught the class a great deal of knowledge on how to use Excel.
The first document that I will be sharing with you in the spreadsheet unit is the spreadsheet quiz. The class was given a strict set of instructions and we had to complete the spreadsheet including all instructions before the end of class.
The reason why I chose this to be one of the documents in my portfolio is because of the difficult instructions the class had to follow to get a good mark on this quiz. At first glance of the instructions I began to think that this would of ben a "walk in the park scenario", but it was the complete opposite. You had to input advanced functions that didn't even understand how to perform.
This demonstrates my advanced understating of following instructions and performing advanced functions in excel. This is because I was able to understand all questions asked, and I also completed all instructions asked with ease, completing the quiz very quickly with my work done properly.
To complete the spreadsheet quiz you have to be familiar with many of the functions and formulas Microsoft Excel has to offer
A precise set of instructions had to be followed to complete the quiz properly. Though there weren't many questions, the few that we had to complete were very tricky

For the Grandma's shoes assignment there were 2 parts, both being very difficult to complete properly and on time. Even though Grandma was willing to pay for majority of the shoe cost, for each pair you had to "chip in a little" as well
The Grandma's Shoes assignment was one of the last assignments that the class had to complete. We had a few class periods to complete the project, as it was very time consuming. But not the amount of work it took was the case with many of the students, what the main issue that we had to overcome was the difficulty of the instructions.
The reason why I chose this to be one of the documents in my portfolio is because of the difficulty of completing this project with success. The instructions were very detail oriented, making you have to follow the instructions exactly on point for it to be correct. As well, the difficulty of the formulas was another difficult area of this spreadsheet. You had to use addition, subtraction, and multiplication to complete this spreadsheet.
This demonstrates my extraordinary understanding of formulas and knowledge of the components on Excel. This is because I was able to easily complete addition, subtraction, and multiplication formulas to complete my work quick and easily. Also, I was able to use many of the tools on Excel to properly complete my work, from merge and center, the sort in ascending order.
After completing the spreadsheet unit in BTT 101 at Governor Simcoe Secondary School I have learned a large amount functions and components on Microsoft Excel, making my use of the program much more quick and efficient.
